Udupi, Aug 7: Newly-inducted state cabinet ministers Kota Srinivas Poojary and V Sunil Kumar were felicitated in a grand ceremony at Amrith Garden organised by district BJP on Friday August 6.

Addressing the gathering, Sunil Kumar said, “We will adhere to the decision of the chief minister. We will work with full commitment if given any portfolio in the cabinet.

“Dr V S Acharya is a guiding force for all of us and Udupi shined at national level when BJP came to power. He was a true inspiration for all the party workers. I reached this position with great effort. We can achieve something big with the cooperation of party workers.

“We have to work carefully amidst criticisms. A common party worker can get a minister’s post. It is possible only in BJP. The state government has given me a chance in the cabinet though I came from very common background.

“We will work together for the overall growth of Udupi and the party as well. We five MLAs of Udupi have good bonding including minister Kota Srinivas Poojary and union minister Shobha Karandlaje. We will work for the integrated development of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada,” he said.

Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has given me a minister’s post in his cabinet and I am very grateful to him. The government's schemes and programmes should reach every person of the society. The union government brought many amendments in Acts which has helped to make wonders in India. These changes are appreciated by all.

“Prime Minister Modi-led government has passed Citizenship Amendment Bill soon after BJP came to power at the centre. Many political parties threw a challenge to the BJP if Ram Mandir is built, it will lead to bloodshed. Siddaramaiah also commented on the same. But now he only has agreed to the verdict of the Supreme Court. Now the opposition has realised the will power of BJP.

“Kissan Samman is one among the best schemes. About 25 crore farmers got its benefits during difficult time.

“About 83% of the population got benefit from Ayushman Bharat. There are many revolutionary works which have begun during the BJP’s term. The government of Karnataka will give transparent, corruption-free and people-friendly administration. It has given a great responsibility to a common party worker like me and I will make use of it in order to develop both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. As I am district in-charge of Dakshina Kannada, I will put my sincere effort in order to the development of both the districts in coming days", he said.

K Raghupati Bhat, MLA Udupi, Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak, district BJP president, Lalaji Mendon, MLA Kaup Yashpal Suvarna, national general secretary, backward class morcha, Dinakar Babu, general Secretary, state SC Morcha, Shilpa G Suvarna, general secretary, state mahila morcha, Sumithra Nayak, CMC president, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, president, Coastal Development Authority, Geethanjali Suvarna, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Uday Kumar Shetty, in-charge Mangaluru division, B N Shankar Poojary and others were present.
