Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 6: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, Aug 6 reported 411 new coronavirus cases and four deaths, while Udupi registered 153 new cases and two deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 13,09,764 samples have been tested so far, out of which 12,07,360 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,02,404 out of which 3,242 are currently active.
As many as 378 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
The district recorded four deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,456.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,00,90,617 as fine in 83,104 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,06,608 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 153 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 70,604 out of which 1,400 are currently active.
A total of 83 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Out of 153 new patients, 131 are in home isolation while 22 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 153 cases, as many as 114 are symptomatic and 39 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 83 new cases, Kundapur registered 31 and Karkala 39.
Coronavirus has claimed 424 lives in the district so far, including two on Friday. The persons who died on Friday were from Kundapura.
So far, 5,36,344 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,92,863 have received the second dose.
A total of 50 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 8 are currently active.
