Mangaluru: Month-long Tulu classes for police personnel from Aug 5

Mangaluru, Aug 5: Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar along with president of Tulu Sahitya Academy inaugurated Tulu language classes for police personnel at police commissioner’s office on Thursday August 5.

As many as 50 police personnel from 16 districts will attend the Tulu language classes for a month.

The classes will go on from August 5 to September 4.

The initiative by Mangaluru city police commissionerate is led by the police commissioner.

Addressing the gathering, Shashi Kumar said, "Learning local language will help police personnel at the time of duty. There is need to learn Tulu language to understand the emotions of public and work with them. If required, we will extend the classes for another batch of police personnel."

    Good initiative by DK Police chief..... Kindly explore the possibility of extending language learning facility Konkani language too because it is the second largest langauge spoken locally by GSBians ,Roman Catholics, in DK,Udupi ,Kasarsgod and , people of Uttar Kannada....

    Wow awesome. Nice to know, non tulu people start speaking in tulu. Also this should extended to other department like banks, govt. offices, companies etc.
