Daijiworld Media Network - Madikeri (SP)

Madikeri, Aug 5: Maoist naxals were sighted in a tribal settlement of Wayanad district of Kerala located adjacent to Kodagu border. The gang of naxals raised pro-naxal slogans and distributed pamphlets containing stern messages to Kerala government, before escaping in the forest.

In the light of this incident, close vigil is kept on the Kodagu border with Kerala. In spite of rain, anti naxal force contingents have been conducting combing operations in the border area.

Anti naxal force that has been permanently stationed in camps at Kutta and Virajpet have been on the toes to make sure that the naxals do not step into Karnataka. After naxal movement was found in some villages of Kodagu like Sampaje, Karike and Kakkabbe villages, anti naxal force camps were set up in Kodagu.
