Manipal, Aug 3: Dr Judith Angelitta Noronha takes over as the dean of Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal, from the outgoing dean Dr Anice George.
Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal has witnessed the changeover of administration.
Dr Judith Angelitta Noronha took charge as the new Dean of Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, Manipal with effect from August 1. Dr Judith succeeds Dr Anice George who completed her tenure as dean of MCON, Manipal.
Dr Judith graduated from Fr Muller’s College of Nursing, Mangalore in 1992. She then obtained her Masters in 1997, MPhil in 1999 from Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal and PhD from Manipal University, Manipal in 2007. Dr Judith served as Professor at MCON, Manipal from 2004 to 2008. She then served as Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs and Head of Maternal and Child Health at Sultan Qaboos University, College of Nursing, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman from 2008 to 2012. Dr.Judith worked as Associate Dean of MCON, Manipal and HOD of Department of OBG Nursing from 2012 to 2019 and further continued as Associate Dean of MCON, Manipal till July 31, 2021.
The handing over ceremony was held at Conference Room, MCON, Manipal on 31 July 2021 in the presence of Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar, MAHE, Manipal, all head of the departments of MCON, Manipal, Principal, MSON, Manipal, Head of Nursing Services, Kasturba Hospital and the Junior management executive of MCON.
Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar, MAHE, recalled the journey of Dr Anice George as head of the institution. He reminisced the way in which Dr Anice would approach him during any problem in the institution with alternatives or possible solutions for the issue, which made his job simple to resolve the problem. Being humble and approachable, Dr Anice was very meticulous in her planning whichever might be the area of her work, be it academics, research or student related matters. During her tenure, the institution has grown tremendously under her excellent leadership. Dr Sabhahit congratulated Dr Judith Anjelitta Noronha, the new Dean and assured her all the support from the administration.
Dr Anice George was appreciated for her commendable leadership and invaluable contribution to the overall development of the institution. Dr Anice joined MCON in the inception year of the institute, worked for 12 years as associate dean and 14 years as the dean of the college. Dr George was a dynamic leader who has seen MCON from its inception, which had a humble beginning in the year 1990, growing academically in all directions to the present level under her able administration. Her exceptional leadership qualities and commitment towards the profession has added number of feathers to the institution.
Dr Anice George welcomed Dr Judith Noronha as the next dean and congratulated her for the new venture. She also assured that dedicated faculty and staff of MCON would provide all the support tocarryout her duties as new dean.
Dr Anice expressed her gratitude to the chancellor and his family along with the senior leadership at MAHE and expressed her gratitude to all the faculty and staff of MCON and MSON.
Dr Judith A Noronha, the new dean of MCON thanked MAHE leadership for their faith in her and Dr Anice George for creating such a conducive and wonderful working culture at MCON which would help her to take the new responsibilities in a more better way. She wished Dr Anice George the very best and hoped her support and guidance during her tenure as dean to witness the growth of the institution.
