Vijayapura, Aug 1: In a shocking incident that took place here, members of a family who were on their way to a temple were allegedly harassed by police donning civil clothes.
Parashurama and his family were on their way from Golasangi village of Basavanabagewadi taluk to Vijayapura in their own truck. They were stopped by police in civil clothes near Koodagi village on the highway. Though the police did not find any illegal things in the truck, they allegedly abused the family members using filthy language.
Parashurama's brother tried to make a video of the incident. The police grew angry at this and tried to snatch away his phone and seize the truck. Parashurama claimed that the police tried to move the truck in a hurried manner, and if he had not moved quickly, he would have come under its wheels.
In addition, the mobile of a reporter of a media house, who was video recording the incident, was allegedly snatched by the police.
There are also accusations that the policemen involved in the incident do not wear uniform and stop vehicles on highways and threaten the commuters with plastic pipes in their hands.
