Mangaluru, Aug 1: With rising number of Covid-19 cases in Kerala and fears of the third wave of deadly virus gripping Karnataka, all government and private bus movements between Kerala and Karnataka have been suspended for a week.

This was announced by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel during a meeting held at the DC's office here on Saturday July 31.

"Due to rise in Covid cases in the neighbouring state, movement of KSRTC and private bus to Kasargod has been suspended for 7 days starting from August 1," Nalin Kumar said.

"The positivity rate has increased in Dakshina Kannada district in the past few days, and hence the district administration has intensified testing at the borders. We are taking all preventive measures to control the spread of the virus.

"For a week, bus movement will be suspended from Mangaluru to Kerala's Kasargod district. It is mandatory for students coming from Kerala to Mangaluru to carry Covid negative certificate. They will be under quarantine in their respective hostels, and the officials concerned need to keep an eye on them," he said.

Deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said, "We need to take measures to conduct more Covid tests in the district. Covid patients should be admitted to Covid care centres and if they are found moving unnecessarily, then FIR should be filed against them. If there are more than two cases in a house, then that house will be considered as a micro containment zone."

Doctor, the blunder was that your government relaxed all covid norms during Eid to appease Muslims, in spite of the common knowledge that these people will not behave responsibly!
