Udupi, Jul 31: Deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha on Saturday July 31 said that the people in responsible position, should strictly adhere to Covid-19 appropriate behaviour. By following the guidelines strictly, political representatives and the officials should be a role model to the general public, he said.
Speaking to media persons, the DC said, “The district is not yet free from the second wave of Covid-19. People should not think that they are safe from the virus now. In this regard, I have spoken to the superintendent of police. Those who fail to adhere to Covid-19 protocol and fail to wear masks will be fined.
"The public, organisations and the institutions should follow the guidelines. The district reported 100 positive cases each day in the past one month. The positivity rate is around 3 percent. From two to three days, the positivity rate is 5 percent. Udupi district is interconnected to Maharashtra and Kerala. Though the cases are increasing, people are gathering in programmes. Those who conduct various types of programmes are inviting the third wave. Organising programmes will put the common man's life into trouble. The active cases in the district have increased to 1,000 now" he said.
