Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 30: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, July 30 reported 345 new coronavirus cases and seven deaths, while Udupi registered 156 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 12,57,712 samples have been tested so far, out of which 11,57,707 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,00,005 out of which 2,825 are currently active.
As many as 201 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
The district recorded seven deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,417.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,00,16,717 as fine in 82,384 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,78,878 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 156 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 69,628, out of which 1,046 are currently active.
A total of 109 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Out of 156 new patients, 139 are in home isolation while 17 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 156 cases, as many as 92 are symptomatic and 64 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 73 new cases, Kundapur registered 36 and Karkala 40 and 7 were from out if district.
Coronavirus has claimed 415 lives in the district so far, including one on Friday. The person who died on Friday was from Kundapura.
So far, 5,06,867 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,80,245 have received the second dose.
A total of 46 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 6 are currently active.
