Mangaluru, Jul 30: The general public has always suffered due to pathetic roads in almost every area in the country for years now. It is a never ending problem where roads turn into slush fields especially during the monsoon. Several lives are claimed in accidents due to bad roads. Some roads are filled with potholes and it makes travelling horrible.
Macwin Ian D’Souza, a Mangalurean, presently residing in Bengaluru, shot and uploaded a video on his official page 'Mac Macha' on Instagram Reels, an app to upload short video content, which highlighted the bad condition of a road at Horamavu in Bengaluru. On July 21, Macwin was travelling to his friend’s residence and Google maps showed the direction of a road which was in horrible state with mucky water due to rain.
It was a nightmarish experience for Macwin to ride his two-wheeler in the road full of mucky water and potholes. Macwin, who had graduated in performing arts from Christ University, is more inclined towards making short movies and advertisements. He pulls out his creative ideas whenever he shoots a video.
After noticing the road’s condition, he posted it on Instagram story. The response was good. Again on July 24, he visited the road which was still in the same condition. Hence he shot and uploaded a video with his creative comic timing which reached 1.21 lac people.
The video was noticed by BBMP chief commissioner who assured to recheck the road and improve its condition.
Macwin has acted in at least 25 advertisement videos including one with Rahul Dravid. He has acted and been the creative producer for a short film called ‘Underbelly’ which was featured in Bangalore International short film festival - 2020.
He has acted in a music video called ‘Dhuen’ for the band ‘Lagori’ directed by Karm Chawla and produced two advertisement films, one of the ad films being with Sandalwood actor Sudeep. Macwin, during his free time, likes travelling to small towns or villages, and reading books on acting, films or spirituality.
Macwin says, “After the video went viral on social media, I got several responses. Many spoke about pathetic road condition in their areas and were urging me to shoot videos to highlight the same. I do not want to be an activist. But if with my creative idea adding coming timing to raise a social issue helps, I will definitely like to do it.”
