Border districts in Karnataka including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi see steady rise in Covid cases

Bengaluru, Jul 30 (IANS): Karnataka districts along the Kerala border are witnessing a steady increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, becoming a cause of concern among authorities in the state.

The development comes at a time when the state is also seeing hectic political activity.

The affected districts are Dakshina Kannada (DK), Udupi and Kodagu.

Dakshina Kannada district, which had reported about 200 cases on an average since over a week ago, registered 396 fresh infections on Thursday.

The number of cases in Kodagu jumped to almost 100 after the district had reported an average of 50 cases per day until recently.

Udupi, which witnessed 100 cases on an average, reported nearly 200 infections on Thursday.

The situation in Mysuru district remained the same and there was no reported spurt in the number of new Covid cases.

It has been made compulsory for those traveling from Kerala to produce a certificate of an RT-PCR test issued within 72 hours or a certificate to confirm that they have taken the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

However, the current situation is the result of the guidelines of the Karnataka government not being implemented at the border districts.

The state Health Department has given instructions to these districts to take stern measures to contain the numbers.

Thousands travel between these districts to the state capital Bengaluru.

    it is not rocket science to know why covid figures are high in districts bordering.... in the long run, state government or central govt. should investigate why most virus do their arangetram (ರಂಗ ಪ್ರವೇಶ) from that state... they are not only putting themselves in danger, they are putting the country in danger... covid, chikangunya, delta, zaika in the last one and half years... what is the root cause... uncommon meats being eaten? alcoholism?....import by gulf labour?.... country cannot afford to have this kind of threats ticking all the time...one state being unsafe means whole country being unsafe...

    The monsoon season is known for respiratory viral infections every year, this year won't be different. As US FDA has ended Emergency Use Permission to RTPCR tests as they have proved to be false and positive results aren't to be considered as infections as dead viral debris only it detects, time to end PCR Pandemic Hoax by stopping fake tests and asymptomatic getting labelled as patients. Any mutations will turn viruses into stingless to cause any harm other than mild symptoms I request the government to stop all these numbers game and creating drama of hopless scenario by implementing lockdowns to market vaccines to kids which will get ready in September.

    Correct, Dr Dev. I agree that RTPCR testing (except for certain cases) has to be stopped. This test detects presence of virus dead or alive in the nose/throat, it does not mean infection. It only creates fear and panic.It also diverts the attention of people from other illnesses that can be prevented or cured. These other illnesses ( comorbidities) are the real and root cause of death in most of the cases. Hope "experts" realize the difference between " colonization" "infection" and "disease".
