Kundapur, Jul 30: Sight of four hunters holding guns created panic in the minds of the people living in the area as they took them to be naxals. This incident happened at Arasammakanu Thotada Mane in Shedimane village within the limits of Amasebail police station on Thursday July 29.

The police have taken into custody Stany Pais (50), Mohan (46), Melvyn Praxi D’Souza (38) from Kukkundur, and Akshaya Poojary (23) from Hebri. They claimed that they had come here to hunt animals.

During the late night hours, a gunshot was heard from near the residence of Sukumar Shetty, a local. When the alarmed family members ventured out of their houses, they found movement of four strangers. As this is a naxal sensitive area, the families initially became fearful and nervous. However, when questioned by the people, the visitors said they had come there with guns for hunting.
