Mangaluru, Jul 29: As the PU result this time has been very good, the demand for degree courses has shot up. Mangalore University is ready to enhance the seats for degree courses which are in demand. As a lot of people have secured first class marks in the PU, they are applying for seats in degree courses.
Dakshina Kannada district PU College Principals Association president, Dr Rajashekhar Hebbar, says that all those who want to pursue degree courses will get them as there is government order stating that people pursuing degrees courses should be provided with seats.
Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and BCom have been in high demand, going by the situation witnessed in the city colleges. Canara College is preparing to start two classes of BCA. Even there is demand for BCA in the government college at Car Street here. In all the private degree colleges, seats are full and students say they do not have proper choice of combinations. BCom and BSc courses too are in demand but only a few apparently pursue BA course.
As many as 207 affiliated degree colleges form Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kodagu districts, have reopened on earlier this week. Physical classes will commence on August 16 because of pending degree exams.
