Udupi, Jul 29: On the basis of a private complaint filed by Tabassum (28), daughter of Ismail Saheb, residing in Manipal, a case under different sections of the Indian Penal Code stands registered in Manipal police station against a man whom she says she trusted. Tabassum has named the accused as Mohammed Rafiq (45).
Tabassum operates a business concern, Heena Enterprises, in Manipal. Mohammed Rafiq works for her and also stayed in the house of the complainant. Considering the cordial relationship Mohammed had with her, the complaint had trusted him. The accused convinced Tabassum to lend him Rs 3,50,000 with the promise of returning the same shortly.

As he failed to repay the amount, she demanded he money back, at which Mohammed grew angry, came to the house of the complainant and challenged Tabassum to take action as she might deem fit against him, and asserting that he would not be paying back the amount. He told her that it would be impossible for her to recover the money due and also used filthy words against her and assaulted her, as per the complaint.
The complainant has sought action against Mohammed for cheating and betrayal of her trust. The police have registered a case against him under different sections of the Indian Penal Code. The probe is on.
