Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 28: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, July 28 reported 337 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi registered 109 new cases and two deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 12,44,124 samples have been tested so far, out of which 11,44,860 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 99,264, out of which 2,363 are currently active.
As many as 148 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,402.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 99,92,617 as fine in 82,148 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,72,007 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 109 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 69,298, out of which 893 are currently active.
A total of 86 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
Out of 109 new patients, 98 are in home isolation while 11 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 109 cases, as many as 74 are symptomatic and 35 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 45 new cases, Kundapur registered 20 and Karkala 44.
Coronavirus has claimed 413 lives in the district so far, including two on Wednesday. The persons who died on Wednesday were from Karkala and Udupi.
So far, 5,04,175 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,79,296 have received the second dose.
A total of 46 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 9 are currently active.
