Bengaluru, Jul 28: It is learnt that the government has decided to allot five grace marks to those students who fail to secure enough marks to pass SSLC examination.

Because of concerns over coronavirus infection, SSLC examination was conducted this time in a simple manner within two days. Every subject was allotted 40 marks and the examinations were held for a total of 240 marks. By adding internal marks for each of the subjects, result will be computed for total marks of 625, a senior official of the secondary education examination board, stated.

The marks obtained out of 40 will be proportionately increased to out of 80 marks. 20 internal marks including 25 for the first language are allotted by the respective schools. At the same time, students who fail to get 30 or 35 marks including internal marks and marks secured in the examination will be helped to pass the examination by giving a maximum marks of five. This year, all those who appeared for the SSLC examination will be promoted and hence grace mark allotment cannot be avoided, sources added.

Commissioner in the department of public instruction, V Anbukumar, said that all those who appeared for this year's SSLC examination will be promoted and those who have done well will get good marks. At the same time, those who fail to get the minimum marks for a pass will be given grace marks, he assured.
