Gadag: Epitome of self-reliance – Differently-abled girl does all work

Daijiworld Media Network – Gadag (MS)

Gadag, Jul 27: Saraswati Lamani, daughter of a farmer, has shown to the world that if one has grit and determination, he or she can overcome any obstacles, physical or mental in life. Lamani lives in Adarahalli Tanda of Lakshmeshwara taluk of the district.

She shoulders the responsibility of the agricultural based family after her father met with an accident and is bedridden. None of her brothers took the responsibility of agricultural and household work but she does all. She has taken the role of eldest son in the family.

Saraswati, who left school in sixth grade, knows all agriculture-related work. Her father Maruti Lamani lost his nerve strength after a bike accident. Though Maruti has two sons, they are of no use to the family. Out of two daughters, one is married. Hence, Saraswati takes care of her father as well as the agriculture.

She wants to remain a spinster as she wants to take care of her father. When her father raises the matter of marriage, she gets angry and warns that she will leave the house and go away. Her family, which has three acres of land in Adaralli Thanda, feels that Saraswati is a blessing from God.

Saraswathi is a man in house.Mostly girls are more attached to mother house and responsibility takers. However parents should make her understand if a good responsible man meets and is ready to stay with them further she should marry.Later when parents die she may be booted out by brothers who are waiting for their share in land which girl brought to yield.A very responsible girl .May God bless her ,and family.Family should now itself give her share before the brothers come to take it with force.

I thank Daiji for bringing up these kind of inspiring stories, Saraswati is great inspiration to all of us, not only to women. Despite her challenges, she took to support her father and learnt to till the field. This is an example that anybody with determination, discipline and commitment can achieve anything. Otherwise all will remain impossible. PS: If I get her account details wish to contribute some funds for her father's health care.

Her job is blessed, she has to find out a good partner, staying alone is difficult and risky, let her be careful about those big horns creatures during work. The horns are risky even.
