Mangaluru, Jul 26: The fares for private buses in the district have been increased as per the new orders issued by Regional Transport Authority.
Dakshina Kannada and Canara Bus Association and Udupi Karavali Bus Owners’ Association had demanded to increase the fares. The demand was kept forward several times. The authority finally considered the demand and order a new revised bus fare for private buses which will implemented from July 26.
The order also instructs to collect a minimum of Rs 0.4 paise from the passengers of the buses which ply across toll plazas.
For city buses, the earlier fare was Rs 7 for travelling within 2 kilometres which has now been increased to Rs 12 and Rs 15 for 2-6 kilometres. The order is applicable even for rural areas.
The others changes are Rs 16 for 6-8 kilometres, Rs 18 for 8-10 kilometres, Rs 19 for 10-12 kilometres, Rs 20 for 12-14 kilometres, Rs 21 for 14-16 kilometres, Rs 22 for 16-18 kilometres and Rs 23 for 18-20 kilometres.
