Jul 26: DK reports 357 corona cases; Udupi adds 214, 5 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 26: Dakshina Kannada on Monday July 26 reported 357 new coronavirus cases and four deaths, while Udupi registered 214 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 12,31,722 samples have been tested so far, out of which 11,48,110 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 98,680, out of which 2,158 are currently active.

As many as 205 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

The district recorded four deaths due to coronavirus on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,397.

The positivity rate in the district has come down to 2.92%.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 99,62,817 as fine in 81,856 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,64,686 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 214 new cases were reported on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 69,091, out of which 882 are currently active.

A total of 82 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

Out of 214 new patients, 188 are in home isolation while 26 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 214 cases, as many as 114 are symptomatic and 100 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 101 new cases, Kundapur registered 51 and Karkala 60, and two was from outside the district.

Coronavirus has claimed 410 lives in the district so far, including one on Monday. The person who died on Monday was from Udupi.

So far, 4,98,177 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,70,085 have received the second dose.

A total of 44 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 8 are currently active.

    Just visit once malpe beach .... Thousands of peoples are in beach with out any social distence ... covid Positive rates are getting higher ... must take action related this kind of issues .. or else again be ready to face lock down ... Then do not blame goverment...

    do you really think we should be staring schools at this time , can we have a district lockdown for a week . for a district which has 22 lakhs 300 cases daily is it too much , is government thinking of having mass immunity ? if not we need to act now & fast
