Mangaluru, Jul 26: Students pursuing under-graduate courses were back to attend classes after the colleges in the city reopened on Monday July 26.
Earlier, Mangalore University (MU) vice chancellor, Prof P S Yadapadithaya, said that the students will be allowed to attend the colleges from Monday onwards and the hostels too will remain open. He however, said that as students unions have urged the university to allow preparations for the semester examinations, examinations will be held on priority. Therefore, physical classes will be held from August 16 onwards.
The students can come to the colleges to clear any questions or doubts about the examinations from Monday. Postponed degree examinations for first, third, fifth and seventh semesters will be held from August 2 and for the first and third semester of postgraduate classes from August 5. Registrar (administration) of the university, Prof Kishore Kumar, also said that students have been given time to prepare for the examination from July 26 to August 4.
As colleges are being reopened, college buildings, main entrances, toilets and all other rooms including furniture and other equipment are being sanitised. Teaching staff, students and other staff who attend the colleges should have been administered with at least one dose of the vaccine. The teachers, students and other staff displaying Covid infection symptoms should compulsorily undergo coronavirus tests as per the advice of the medical officers.
