Kaup, Jul 25: Thieves broke into three houses in Muloor here and decamped with valuables and cash worth lacs of rupees.
The incident took place late night on Saturday July 24, and came to light on Sunday July 25.
The serial thefts occured at the houses belonging to Mohammed Rafiq near East West nursery, and Ibrahim in Madhura compound and Shehnaz.
As the thefts took place when families in all the three houses were away, it is suspected that the they were committed by the same gang of thieves.
Cash, gold ornaments, mobile phone and a watch, altogether worth Rs 6,90,000 were stolen.
The thieves robbed valuables and cash worth Rs 60,000 from Shenaz's house, Rs 5 lac worth of gold ornaments and Rs 20,000 in cash from Rafiq's house, and a Rado watch worth Rs 60,000, a mobile phone worth Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 in cash from from Ibrahim's house.
All three thefts were committed in the same way, by breaking in throught the backdoors of the houses.
It is suspected that the thieves had observed the movements of families for days before committing the thefts.
Kaup circle inspector Prakash, SI Raghavendra C, and SI (crime) Thimmesh arrived visited the houses and conducted investigation.
Fingerprint experts and canine squad were pressed into action.
Kaup police are investigating.
