Mangaluru, Jul 25: The Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK) distributed various scholarships to deserving students in a programme held at Bishop's house here on Saturday July 24.
The scholarships were handed over by bishop of Mangaluru Dr Peter Paul Saldanha.
CASK distributed Covid scholarships worth Rs 7 lac to 32 beneficiaries from Mangaluru, Udupi and Chikkamagluru dioceses.
Endowment scholarships worth Rs 1.4 lac to six beneficiaries and annual scholarships worth Rs 6.5 lac to 64 beneficiaries were also awarded.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said, "CASK has been doing good work in helping the needy. The journey should not stop here as the beneficiaries should in turn invest on education or well-being of other deserving needy and give back to society. Try to help at least one person. The chain should continue."
President of CASK Capt Vincent Pais welcomed the gathering, while secretary Anand Pereira proposed the vote of thanks and vice-president of CASK Patsy Lobo compered the programme.
Capt Arul Aranha, son of Ladislaus B Aranha, treasurer Nobert Shenoy, vice-president Mario Saldanha, joint secretary Gulobi Fernandes, coordinator of CASK Covid support project Dr Derek Lobo, coordinator of CASK annual scholarships Ullhas Rasquinha, immediate past president of CASK Nayana Fernandes and others were present.
