Mangaluru, Jul 17: The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a feast that marks the appearance of the blessed virgin Mary to a Carmelite saint Simon Stock on July 16, 1251 with these words 'This will be for you and for all Carmelites the privilege, that he who dies in this will not suffer eternal fire'.
Sr M Sylvette AC, former professor of Geography, St Agnes College addressed the faculty on the significance of the feast, the history of the Apostolic Carmel and the role of venerable Mother Veronica, the foundress of the Apostolic Carmel.
Carmel School staff enthusiastically hosted this feast in a short programme. A prayer service was held invoking God’s blessings on the management, the faculty, parents and the students. A rhythmic dance hailed the virtues of mother Mary.
A skit highlighted the significance of the scapular. An entertaining dance left everyone tapping their feet and clapping their hands. A song on dreaming big and trusting in God was also enriching.
Sr Sarika, the principal in her inspirational message gave a clarion to inculcate the virtues of mother Mary.
The programme was compered by Deepti, words of welcome by Shwetha and the vote of thanks by Shilpa. The occasion was graced by Sr Rose Agnes, the administrator, Sr Sarika the principal and the faculty.
