"Hail Flower of Carmel

Hail Fruitful Vine

Hail Ever Immaculate Queen

In all Virtues Shine"

Mangaluru, Jul 16: The liturgical feast of Our lady of Mount Carmel is celebrated on July 16 every year.

It is the 153rd year of the foundation of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation that brought education to the young girls of coastal India.

It was first celebrated in England in the later part of the 14th century. Its object was thanksgiving to Mary, the patroness of the Carmelite Order, for the benefits she had accorded to it through its difficult early years. Since the 15th century, popular devotion to our Lady of Mount Carmel has centered on the scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

This year, St Agnes CBSE School showed its wholehearted involvement in the festive celebration of Mount Carmel in a unique way. On behalf of the auspicious day, the school organised a virtual orientation programme on the topic 'Behind the Parents stands the School, Behind the Teacher the Home, Let's build a Positive Partnership'.

An enriching talk was held on how to work hand in hand with parents, students and educators, school being the support system by Fr Dr Archibald Gonsalves OCD. This was followed by a holy eucharistic celebration for the students, parents and staff through live streaming of Divine World Channel and Youtube and Facebook.

The students of the Carmel Blossom along with the able guidance of Sr Marina AC and Sr Sweedal AC gave a short virtual programme with prayer service. The significance of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was dance and a wishing song to mark the honour of the day.

May the Lady of Mount Carmel bestow her choicest blessings on all.
