Mangaluru, Jul 7: In an incident which happened near Kolya Mookambika temple within Ullal police station limits, a gang of thieves broke into two houses by breaking open their doors, damaged things inside them, and escaped with only three wrist watches. The incident happened during the late night hours of Tuesday July 6.

The thieves entered a house belonging to Suresh, who is settled in a foreign country, by breaking the door. They demolished an almirah there, strewed around things inside the house, and apparently searched for cash and gold ornaments. They returned empty handed. They then barged into the house of Rajesh, a neighbour, searched the almirah there, and stole three wrist watches.

Rajesh, who was asleep in a room of the house, woke up and raised an alarm. By the time people living in the rented house on the first floor came down running, the gang escaped.

Theft after six years

The thieves had entered the house of Suresh in 2015 and taken away 45 sovereigns of gold ornaments. No one was inside the house then too. So far this theft case has not been resolved. A gang of thieves has again tried to burgle the same house after a gap of six years. Suresh lives abroad with his family. His relatives keep visiting this house once in a while and look after its maintenance.
