July 2: Dakshina Kannada reports 302 new cases, Udupi 91; 14 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, July 2: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, July 2 reported 302 new coronavirus cases and thirteen deaths, while Udupi reported 91 fresh cases and one death.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 10,59,410 samples have been tested so far.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 93,439 out of which 3,902 are currently active. The positivity rate of district is 3.26%.

As many as 721 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.

The district recorded thirteen deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1222.

With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 94,36,217 as fine in 77,423 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,87,982 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 91 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 66,676 out of which 921 are currently active.

A total of 124 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.

Coronavirus has claimed 395 lives in the district so far, including one on Friday.

Till now, 4,23,804 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,19, 128 have received the second dose.

    May the departed souls of the deceased rest in peace. Eventhough the numbers of infected people show less, death rate is more. This is really surprising. Last year, we didnt have vaccines. Deaths were less. This year, even after the vaccines, these many deaths ??? Very sad 😥
