Mumbai, Sep 2: ‘Youphoria–2010’, an inter-school competition, was organized by the youth wing of Bombay South Kanara Brahmin Association (BSKBA) at the Ashraya Old Age Home auditorium, Nerul, Navi Mumbai, recently.
Over 124 students from eight schools participated in the event. BSKBA has been organizing this annual event for the past two decades.
BSKBA honorary secretary A P K Potty inaugurated the event.
The competition began with singing followed by elocution, spelling, drawing, quiz, and Discover India competitions.
The most prestigious event was Discover India where students had to prepare a stall depicting a historical/cultural event and stage a folk dance which represented the same. The participating schools in this were: Udayachal High School, Presentation Convent School, SS High School, and SIES School. The folk dances were rich in value and received untiring applause and requests for encore.
BSKBA vice-president Laxmish Acharya appreciated the quality of the participants and hoped that next time more schools would come forward to participate.
The ‘Best School’ trophy was won by Udayachal High School, Vikhroli. This is the second year in succession that they have bagged this award.
BSKBA youth wing leader Prashant welcomed the gathering.
