Udupi, Jun 21: International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 every year. The government guidelines for Yoga Day is being celebrated by the government, which prohibits organizing public meetings, ceremonies and other events due to Covid-19 at present.
According to the guidelines issued by the Ayush Ministry in collaboration with the Ayush Department and the Patanjali Yoga Education Committee, the current line of Yoga Day should be celebrated on the slogan 'Be with a Yoga, Be at Home'.
The NCC unit of Shirva, St Mary's College, celebrated International Yoga Day on the slogan 'Yoga From Home'.
The college NCC officer, Lieutenant K Praveen Kumar, symbolically launched the yoga programme by doing Yoga asanas and inspired the youth to take part and take care of a healthy mind and soul. Dr Herald Ivan Monis, principal of the college conveyed his regards and best wishes.
The event was celebrated by a 'Yoga From Home' competition organized by the college NCC unit and huge participation from various schools, colleges and the public including Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chikkmagaluru, Belgaum, Dharwad and Uttara Kannada districts.
In this celebration, 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC, Udupi Unit Administrative Officer Lieutenant Colonel Parminder Singh, all college and school NCC officers, unit coordinator Yashoda, senior under officer Bharat Ramdas Sathishshetty, junior under officer Pravitha Acharya and Rion Rishi Alphonso, company sergeant quartermaster Rain Andrade and Company Sergent Major Prathima, teaching and non-teaching staff, friends, students as well as all cadets assisted and helped in organizing this programme.
