Srinivas University College of Hotel Management re-invents food, tourism industry in post COVID-19

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 16: College of Hotel Management and Tourism of Srinivas University has been imparting knowledge and skills to young minds to make them competitive enough to work in this ever-changing and challenging industry. Established as Srinivas Group College of Hotel Management, it was merged into Srinivas University, a state private university as College of Hotel Management and Tourism since 2017, which gives a humongous advantage to both students and the curriculum.

The college offers a unique course which is seen nowhere in India. The advantage of the course is that it accepts students across any stream they have chosen in PU/+2, as long as they have the drive and passion to become a hotelier. The course guarantees to offer, teach and train every student on a very practical basis through the institute's experienced professors. The university offers unique undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Why do we say unique? Because:

(1) Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology: A four-year undergraduate programme that offers subjects that are on par with the current hospitality industry requirement and relies heavily on practical based subjects. To prepare students for the industry, the course offers industrial training in two semesters, where the students not only become familiar with the current industry but also get trained to directly handle the department at a managerial level when they join.

(2) BSc Hotel Management Aviation, Travel and Tourism: A three-year undergraduate programme that will train students to the airline's standards as the course offers very unique practical based subjects. Here, the students have the advantage of choosing either airlines or hotel as their career options.

(3) BSc HM (Hotel Management): A three-year undergraduate programme that dedicates itself to preparing students to become new generation hoteliers. The course is mainly aimed at extending an opportunity to students to join the hotel industry at a supervisory level.

(4) MBA in Hotel & Tourism Management: A two-year postgraduate programme made just for those who wish to become future managers of the industry. The subjects taught help them to understand what it takes to reach that goal. Learning managerial level subjects will prepare candidates to understand and run any department of the hotel.

The college also offers many skill-developing programmes through workshops, competitions, events that are organised by the students. They have also imparted knowledge through research programmes, entrepreneurial development programme, interview training programmes conducted by various departments headed by experienced tutors.

The Training & Placement department ensures that all the students are rightly placed in global brands through on-campus and off-campus interviews. The college also has a wide network of alumni spread across the world in various managerial positions. This helps the students get absorbed by the industry very easily. Even during this pandemic, the students were placed in many branded star hotels, and the hotels are still demanding more candidates from the institute in the coming days.

Being in the frontline since 1988, the College of Hotel Management & Tourism has been educating and training young talent in various domains of the hospitality industry. The same drive continues to this day and we strive to give the best hoteliers that any hotel can demand.
