Mangaluru: As heavy rains lash coastal region, orange alert sounded till June 17

Mangaluru, Jun 13: Most parts of coastal Karnataka and malnad regions have been receiving copious rainfall from early morning on Sunday June 13. The rain is expected to further intensify from Monday June 14 onward. Therefore, orange alert has been issued from till June 17.

Intensive rainfall has been experienced in coasal Karnataka from a week. In many places, roads and houses have been damaged and power supply has been severed.

Low-lying areas have been inundated. In addition to coastal districts, even north interior Karnataka districts are expected to get heavy rainfall till June 17.

The department has issued orange alert on June 16 and 17 for south interior districts like Hassan, Shivamogga, Kodagiu, and Chikkamagaluru districts. On other days, yellow alert will be in place.

C S Patil, director of the department, said that north interior Karnataka districts are likely to get heavy rainfall from Monday. Therefore, yellow alert has been issued there on June 14 and 15. Yadagiri, Vijayapura, Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad, Belagavi, and Bagalkot are the districts where yellow alert has been sounded.

Fishermen have been warned not to enter the sea for a week.

    We very much need the rains but can just pray to God that it will not destroy people's lively hood. But in any case, we have to face it as it is God's will. I and my family have faced all four seasons in New York and other places but God helped us to face all of them under all weather.

    Cynthia, how far Kirem from Bajpe ? Since long time you are complaining that in Kirem only lightening and thunder and only drizzeles. Tonight hopefully you will get incessant rain. Enjoy the showers and let me know tomorrow 👍🙏

    Yesterday it was good raining and today also good rain. My prayers goes my Lord to all the humans and the properties of the humans and farmers crop should not be destroyed. Lord protect thy children from the extreme rain.

    Including people of kirem/thudam....Must be raining heavily in bajpe/permude...but as usual here not a single drop of rain since afternoon....good sunlight....hmm....here green alert
