Mangaluru/Udupi, June 8: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, June 8 reported 525 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi reported 204 fresh cases and two deaths.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 8,75,820 samples have been tested so far, out of which 7,94,820 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 81,000 out of which 7,032 are currently active.
As many as 754 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 958.
With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 72,84,417 as fine in 61,993 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,19,238 samples have been tested so far.
As many as 204 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 62,883 out of which 3,783 are currently active.
A total of 504 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
Coronavirus has claimed 348 lives in the district so far, including two on Tuesday.
Till now, 2,85,000 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 87,886 have received the second dose.
