Bengaluru: Feeling heat of Kannadigas’ protest, Amazon corrects its mistake

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 7: After Google, it is now the turn of Amazon to make amends as a result of the protests of Kannadigas at insulting the Kannada flag.

Amazon had, in its e-commerce website, put up on sale bikini which had colours of the Kannada flag. The bikini not only is made by using red and yellow cloth just like the Kannada flag, but even the Karnataka emblem has been printed on it.

As Kannadigas expressed their resentment in a big way, the company has corrected its flaw. It has replaced the photo of the innerwear which looked like the Kannada flag, with the photo of a bikini.

But in the brand detail, it continues to show as flag of Karnataka original design. This has given rise to the suspicion that the same innerwear might be sold by the company secretly.

mocking Indians, Indian emblems, symbols, customs is habit with western world... many British people who lived in India wrote about strange Indian customs, way of life, rituals, beliefs etc. which has created an image that Indians are very backward and have culture which is something like tribal / stoneage culture... Some time back there was gang in the US known as dotbursters who disliked the bindi on forehead of Indian women and used to assault Indian immigrants... A few years back, there was report that many ವಿಗ್ರಹಾs of Indian Gods and Goddesses were kept as interior decoration in a brothel in Europe. Taking Indians lightly has gone into western psyche. Unless they are taught some good unforgettable lessons, western MNCs will continue to do this...

Agree with you on colours part but i guess you missed "even the Karnataka emblem has been printed on it." Which is not acceptable. Every country has its own rules & regulation. India has it own when it comes for Flags & emblem. Even UAE has started to implement strict action on disrespect of UAE Flag. which was not the case earlier.

Its not Amazon who sells it, its sold on Amazon platform thats it. Amazon doesn't own any of the products which is sold on Amazon. It is the vendors who has business gets registered themselves in Amazon seller account and sends their products to Amazon fulfillment center, Amazon is just like a third party. who delivers it to customer. So you need to see who is the seller of this product which will be mentioned in the details. So it is not western company but our own Indian people , may be from other state making mockery of Karnataka.

Manufacturing, Selling, Stocking products which is hurt sentiments of people, culture, religion or nation is totally wrong. Two years back Amazon made same mistake by selling products having picture of God and Godesses on objectionable items. Earlier well known shoe brand company done same thing latter on apologized by removing all stuffs immediately from market. They are doing purposely. Even in cigarettes are used fatty pigments of pig which is haraam for some people. Many things happening which is unnoticeable by others.

Dear Heeralal, I understand, but it is equally important to understand that Amazon doesn't sell anything. People or companies who does buying and selling business, sells on Amazon. Amzon is just a market place where it connects buyer and seller and for that they charge some commission. So what ever sold in Amazon India is sold by suppliers from India. Amazon picks items from seller and deliveres it to buyer.

@ Heeralal, Manipal - Even former US president Trump didn't bend to India but left some nasty words for Modi and Indians. Instead of the current US Pres Biden, VP Kamala spoke to Modi recently - That's an immediate downgrade for BJP government when the most powerful person in the world doesn't speak with Modi on matters of national importance. It's been 7 years of failure - time for BJP to accept it and remove the entire lot of useless ministers.
