Bengaluru, Jun 5: Monsoon has entered the state as per the usual time of June first week. The monsoon clouds that arrived to Kerala on Thursday have entered Karwar of Uttara Kannada district. Many districts including Bengaluru received copious amounts of rain on June 4.
Last year, the monsoon arrived in the state on June 6. Prior to that it had showered rain in the last week of May. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) it will take another three to four days for the monsoon to spread over whole of Karnataka.
Red alert is declared by IMD in the coastal districts of Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada on June 5 as these districts will receive heavy rainfall. Orange alert is announced in the Malnad districts of Shivamogga, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan for the next 24 hours. Yellow alert is declared in the south interior districts of Ballari, Bengaluru, Bengaluru rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Tumakuru and north interior districts of Bagalkot, Bidar, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Kalaburagi and Vijayapura on June 5.
