Monsoon enters Karnataka: Red alert issued for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Bengaluru, Jun 5: Monsoon has entered the state as per the usual time of June first week. The monsoon clouds that arrived to Kerala on Thursday have entered Karwar of Uttara Kannada district. Many districts including Bengaluru received copious amounts of rain on June 4.

Last year, the monsoon arrived in the state on June 6. Prior to that it had showered rain in the last week of May. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) it will take another three to four days for the monsoon to spread over whole of Karnataka.

Red alert is declared by IMD in the coastal districts of Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada on June 5 as these districts will receive heavy rainfall. Orange alert is announced in the Malnad districts of Shivamogga, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan for the next 24 hours. Yellow alert is declared in the south interior districts of Ballari, Bengaluru, Bengaluru rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Tumakuru and north interior districts of Bagalkot, Bidar, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Kalaburagi and Vijayapura on June 5.

    Pray these rains are so intense that people dare not step out thus allowing the Corona Virus to die its own death. Its a God Given season compared to any part of the world. Good luck India.

    Hopefully Monsoon this time is in the right amount. Meaning just enough for farmers, temperature control and water storage etc. The last thing we need in this difficult time is floods and deaths due to excess rains

    This year rain started at right time....and as per IMD's predictions. But...rains are not pouring continuously. Starts at early morning with mild roaring in the sky and ends at 8 or so. Its rain's office t8mings....What achche din ? This ia the boon given by our prakrithi. Lets all accept this gift and sit at home. Even if man leaves, god doesn't leave the hand of man...
