Mandya: Car plunges into gorge, catches fire - Three burnt alive

Mandya, Jun 4: Three members of a family were set ablaze alive as the car in which they were travelling in jumped down a gorge and caught fire. This incident reportedly happened near Halagur in the district on Friday June 4 morning.

The victims of the accident were Sheikh Faisal (44), Mehak (33) and Sheikh Adil (11). Two others in the car survived with serious injuries.

The accident happened near Mahadeshwara petrol bunk on Kanakapura road near Halagur. The car was going to Bengaluru from Hanur, Chamarajanagar, when it went out of the control of the driver near Halagur. The car jumped down a roadside gorge after which fire broke out in the car. Three persons who could not come out of the car turned into ashes.

Two others who suffered serious injuries were hospitalised. The locals who came together worked to douse the flames. A case about the accident was filed at Halagur police station.
