Mangaluru, Jun 4: Konaje police and city crime branch sleuths on Friday June 4, seized huge quantity of MDMA crystals and arrested three people from Uppala. As much as 170 gram worth Rs 10 lac, a car and four mobile phones were seized.
The arrested trio are Mohammed Munaf, Mohammed Muzambil, and Ahammed Masooq. While Munaf has completed his BBA, Muzambil is working in sports shop in Nelamangala, Bengaluru and Masooq in a hotel at JP Nagar, Bengaluru.
The accused were trying to sell the drug in Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Uppala and Kasargod. They were tracked from Hassan and arrested under Konaje police station limits.
It is gathered that the accused had taken drugs from an African national in Bengaluru.
The total worth of the seized items is Rs 17,37,000. A case is registered at ENPS police station.
Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, “Since it is a huge quantity of MDMA, we will look into the consumers, whom they used to sell. There will be elaborate investigation. If required, we will take help from Bengaluru police. Some are into drug selling as full time business in Bengaluru. We will also arrest the African national.”
The operation to nab the accused was carried out by ACP north Ranjith Kumar, Konaje inspector Prakash Devadiga, CCB inspector Mahesh Prasad, sub-inspector Sharanappa, Mallikarjun Biradara, CCB sub inspector Pradeep, assistant sub-inspector Mohan, Reji, Nagraj Lamani, Purushottam, Abhishek, Umesh Rathod, Manjunath, Manjappa, CCB constable Jabbar, Mohan and Mani.
Do not trouble medical fraternity members
The police commissioner warned miscreants and said not to trouble members of the medical fraternity while they are performing their daily routine and duties.
“The frontline workers like doctors and health workers are working day and night for people’s safety. They even stay separate from their families and render their services. It has come to our notice that frontline workers are assaulted and abused. I warn the public, patient or anyone relating to the patient, should not indulge in assaulting frontline workers or damaging medical institution’s properties. If such incidents are reported, cases will be filed and the accused will be dealt seriously. I urge everyone to respect the frontline workers’ duties and co-operate,” he said.
