Udupi, May 29: “Gram panchayats (GP) which will be free of Covid cases will be given additional grants for development works after a discussion with the chief minister (CM),” said Hindu Religious Organisations, Endowments and Backward Class Welfare department minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
In a video conference meeting held with Karkala and Hebri village level task force committees, at DC office, Rajathadri Manipal here on Saturday May 29, he said, “The task force committee members of 36 gram panchayats of Karkala and Hebri taluk should work effectively in order to control cases of coronavirus. ASHA and Anganwadi workers should visit Covid positive patients’ houses every day and check their health status. If any patients have severe symptoms, please admit them to the hospital immediately.
“Like the Prime Minister and CM said, the taskforce committees can control Covid pandemic in villages. I will make arrangement to release additional funds for Covid-free village panchayats after discussion with the CM.
“All Covid positive patients’ houses should be sealed down in village areas and need to hand- seal the patients to prevent their movement in public places,” he said.
“Make proper use of pulse oximeters and kits, which are provided through the MLA fund. When the taskforce members work together as a team, corona can be controlled,” said Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar who joined the meeting through video conference from Bengaluru.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha appreciating Miyaru village panchayat, said that it has taken the best measures to control spread of Covid and is a model for all other panchayats. “The same measures should be followed by all. Panchayat representatives should cooperate and work with commitment to control the virus.”
Dr Naveen Bhat Y, CEO, zilla panchayat, Kiran Padnekar, deputy secretary, zilla panchayat, presidents, vice presidents, PDOs of Karkala and Hebri taluk and others participated.
