Karnataka registers close to 50,000 recoveries, 468 deaths in single day

Bengaluru, May 19: Karnataka on Wednesday May 19, registered 34,281 new coronavirus cases.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state stand at 5,58,890. Bengaluru Urban reported 11,772 cases in a single day.

As many as 468 deaths due to coronavirus were reported on Wednesday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 218 deaths and Ballari 23. With this, the toll so far has risen to 23,306.

The state recorded 49,953 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 17,24,438.

So far, Karnataka has seen 23,06,655 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 26.46%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 1.36%.

As many as 1,14,28,711 people have received vaccination so far.

    With a very good pre-lock-down containment strategy followed by a humane yet effective lock-down, Kerala's active caseload came down from the peak of 440652 to 331864, whereas Karnataka despite a rigorous lock-down is at the top with 5,58,890 cases.....

    Because of Kerala vivid strategy cases in Karnataka increased when the restriction were relaxed. Ask your CM to improve investment and jobs in Kerala.
