JSW’s 1000 oxygenated bed super speciality Covid care centre in Ballari opened

Bengaluru, May 19: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa inaugurated a Super Speciality Covid Care Centre with 1000 oxygenated beds established by the JSW Steel Company in Ballari.

After declaring the1000 bed oxygenated Super Speciality Covid Care Centre open virtually, the Chief Minister lauded the efforts of private companies like JSW Steel in joining hands with the State Government’s relentless drive to control the surge in Covid Second Wave.

Pointing out that several parts of the country and even leading hospitals were facing shortages of oxygen, he said the the1000 bed oxygenated Super Speciality Covid Care Centre in Ballari would prove to be a boon for the people around the region.

Yediyurappa warmly appreciated the speed with which JSW established the Covid Care Centre by laying a 4.8 kms pipeline to supply oxygen from the steel plant in a record time of 15 days and complimented the JSW Chief Sajjan Jindal for his initiative.

The 1000 bed oxygenated Super Speciality Covid Care Centre will be managed by the Ballari district administration. The Covid Care Centre is equipped with trained doctors, nurses as well as para-medical staff and non-medical staff and will be working on 24x7 basis.

The Chief Minister said the State Government has been constantly striving to improve the health infrastructure since last year and the facilities in the hospitals will be improved further as the State Government was according the highest priority for the task.

He said the State Government was offering subsidy for the managements of private medical colleges for establishing oxygen manufacturing plants.

In a bid to tackle the shortages of oxygen and the increasing demand in the State, the Chief Minister said the government was following a three-pronged strategy of increasing the supply of liquid oxygen, enhancing the production of oxygen locally through oxygen generators and increasing the purchases of oxygen concentrators as well as cylinders.

“It is a welcome development that private companies, non-governmental organisations as well as religious bodies and civic society is joining hands with the State Government in its efforts to control the spike in the Covid Second Wave,’’ the Chief Minister said.

JSW Steel Company Chief Sajjan Jindal said he was proud to offer the the1000 bed oxygenated Super Speciality Covid Care Centre to the people of Ballari and neighbouring districts.

Minister Anand Singh, who is the district in-charge, Large and Medium Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar and Chief Secretary P Ravikumar accompanied the Chief Minister in the virtual function.

    What a commendable job by the private industry. Hospital has been set up right at the nick of time when Covid cases are exponentially rising in rural areas. It is also praiseworthy that the company has laid a pipeline for gaseous oxygen to the hospital, as a replacement of LMO.
