Mangaluru, May 10: A woman suffering from coronavirus infection breathed her last at the district Wenlock Hospital here on Sunday May 9. Alleging medical negligence having caused her death, her relatives staged protest.
The woman aged 51 from Bantwal had been admitted into the hospital three days back, after suffering from the deadly infection. On Sunday afternoon too she looked normal and conversed with her family members, it is learnt. Later, she suddenly passed away. The relatives of the deceased got wild, as they felt that negligence on the part of the hospital had caused the woman's death. Local MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath, visited the hospital and spoke to the relatives of the deceased and also the medical officers on duty.

The family alleged that the lady who was in an intensive care unit bed, was shifted to the ward. They claimed that they were unaware of this shifting. They also alleged that the woman was shifted to the ward without making arrangements for the ventilator. They have demanded for payment of compensation.
