Udupi, May 8: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) of the district distributed ration kit to more than 2500 families on account of Holy month of Ramadan and also due to the prevailing lockdown.
The rations kits were delivered to poor families of Kundapur, Brahmavar, Kaup, Karkala and Udupi taluks.
Giving details on the subject, Abdul Khader Moideen, president of JIH Hoode said, “Responding to the pain of people is the ideal that is taught by Islam. In the wake of this background, JIH has involved itself in many social works. We have distributed ration kits to more than 2500 throughout the district regardless of caste, creed and religion.”
HRS wing of JIH is also involved in Covid relief work in the district. It is trying to create awareness among public with regards to Covid by offering ambulance service, doctor services and information on vaccination. HRS activists are also involved in carrying out the final rites of people who die of Covid also.
Speaking on the subject, Hasan, HRS convener said, “Our activists are involved in helping people 24x7 like we did in the first lock down. A helpline is established in the district. Our activists are joining hands with the district administration in carrying out the final rites of patients who die of Covid to give them an honourable final farewell.”
