Kundapur, Aug 10: BJP candidate Mohandas Shenoy has been re-elected president of the town municipality for the second term.
Kalavathi, CPI (M) candidate, has been elected as vice-president. Both the posts are for two and a half years. The town council constitutes 23 members and the BJP, with 15 members, enjoys majority in the council.
BJP members Sathish Shetty and Rajesh Kaveri were other the keen contenders who later withdrew from the impending election on request, in the interest of the party’s unity and discipline.
Tahsildar Raju Mogaveera oversaw the proceedings and declared Mohandas Shenoy and Kalavathi as president and vice-president, respectively.
