Mumbai, Apr 23: Maharashtra government has decided to provided relief to deprived sections in view of the ongoing Covid crisis. It is inclusive of widows, senior citizens, orphans, and the specially abled by releasing combined pension for April-May.
An amount of Rs 1,428 crore has been sanctioned by the state finance department and the process has been initiated. Social justice minister, Dhananjay Munde said that there are nearly 35 lac beneficiaries. He said the process of transferring the amount through banks had begun.
Funds have been released under schemes such as Rs 330 crore under Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana (SGNY) for general category, Rs 60 crore under SGNY for scheduled caste, Rs 45 crore for schedule tribe, Rs 660 crore under Shravanbal Yojana for general category, Rs 120 crore for SC, Rs 90 crore for ST, Rs 110 crore under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Retirement Pay Scheme, Rs 12 crore under Indira Gandhi National Widow Retirement Pay Scheme and Rs 1.5 crore under Indira Gandhi National Disability Retirement Scheme.
