Mangaluru, Apr 23: The city police have identified the two persons who inhumanly dragged a dog along the road by tying its two legs to the back of their motorbike. The incident had happened near NITK Surathkal on April 15 and the incident had been revealed with delay.
Both the men involved with this cruel treatment of an innocent dog are of north Karnataka origin. A passer-by, Jeevan, had captured the scene on camera and circulated the same. A complaint was registered later in Surathkal police station in the presence of Jeevan. The police arrested one of the offenders within half an hour from the registration of the complaint, and also expressed the confidence of nabbing the other.
Neelappa
The arrested has been identified as Neelappa (30) from Koppal. He is a construction worker at Surathkal. He was the pillion rider.
The city police led by police commissioner Shashi Kumar, and deputy commissioners of police Hariram Shankar and Vinay Gaonkar, deserve to be lauded for their prompt action.
Such prompt actions are the need of the hour to dissuade people from torturing animals with impunity.
