Mangaluru: Cruelty against dog - Police take prompt action, arrest one

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 23: The city police have identified the two persons who inhumanly dragged a dog along the road by tying its two legs to the back of their motorbike. The incident had happened near NITK Surathkal on April 15 and the incident had been revealed with delay.

Both the men involved with this cruel treatment of an innocent dog are of north Karnataka origin. A passer-by, Jeevan, had captured the scene on camera and circulated the same. A complaint was registered later in Surathkal police station in the presence of Jeevan. The police arrested one of the offenders within half an hour from the registration of the complaint, and also expressed the confidence of nabbing the other.

Neelappa

The arrested has been identified as Neelappa (30) from Koppal. He is a construction worker at Surathkal. He was the pillion rider.

The city police led by police commissioner Shashi Kumar, and deputy commissioners of police Hariram Shankar and Vinay Gaonkar, deserve to be lauded for their prompt action.

Such prompt actions are the need of the hour to dissuade people from torturing animals with impunity.

I am not a animal activist, But I love Dogs. Particularly street dogs and they love me too. Particularly I have experienced in my hoe town Pangala, Navi mumbai and in Bangalore. You need to feed them....just speak to them an touch them. They will never forget you. Such a loyal animal is not seen in my life including my relatives. I find real and not selfish love in them. And such a animal treated in this way is not acceptable. Instead of such bastards so called human beings, I prefer dogs to be on this earth.

Even, i have experienced the same in my life Charles. Only talking to them and sometimes appreciating them by touching their forehead is more than enough for them...but, when they wait for us without expectation, how should we keep quiet without giving something to eat or interacting? All the dogs on my way home know me..and i named everyone . When they wait for our arrival its heart touching. I could not go out for so many weeks because of corona, and suddenly one fine day when i appeared in front of them ..their joy is beyond my imagination...i love 💘 them

Only a mad person will take "vengeance" on a dog. Any animal. And if the dog was really rabid, they would be mad to go near it. Proabably only 2 people( to my knowledge) in the world ever survived full blown rabies ( not talking about those who got anti rabies vaccine or antibodies).

Some areas in Mangalore city, urwa market area, Gandhi park in Mannagudda/urwa area are very scary to walk in the road due to dog's menace. police who have arrested these motor bike, why can't they take similar action against MCC.

Why is a dog a menance? Ancient times, man domesticated a wild animal related to the wolf, and millennia later, we have various breeds of dogs. When an animal has become dependent on humans, and humans abandon it, we get situations like street dog menace. There are still more humane ways to either to cull 😥 or neuter them.

It is inhuman and uncalled for a human being with a right spirit doing such a bad deed towards a street dog or any animal. The action taken by the police is appreciated. Sometimes I wonder there are so many elderly thrown out of their houses after the children make their Property transferred to their respective names and these vulnerable have to be looked after by old age homes or by relatives. Is there justice there?
