Mangaluru, Apr 20: Even though ultimatums were served to the employees in Puttur and Mangaluru divisions of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to resume work, most of the employees chose to ignore the notice. Therefore, the corporation is expected to crack a whip and take harsh action against the trainee employees on a 3/4 scale wage.
Both the divisions have about 250 trainee employees each. As they are undergoing a training period, they do not have the right to agitate against the management as per rules. Still, these employees have taken part in the stir since the beginning.
Therefore, the officials of the corporation had served final notice on Friday, asking them to report for duty on Monday morning failing which they were warned of disciplinary action. Only a handful of employees responded and came to the office, the officials stated.
Permanent employees of the corporation have been slowly returning to work by dropping the strike. On Monday, 219 buses in Mangaluru and 265 in Puttur operated. A couple of NURM buses were also run in Mangaluru. A few buses also operated to Bengaluru from Puttur on Monday night. About 24 buses were run between Bengaluru and Dharmasthala, BC Road, Sullia etc.
