Bengaluru, Apr 20: The Karnataka govt has announced a weekend curfew from 9 pm on Friday till 6 am on Monday with means to contain the rapid spread of coronavirus infection. Meanwhile, a night curfew will remain in force every day from 9 pm to 6 am. These restrictions will be in effect for 14 days starting April 21 till May 4, announced chief secretary P Ravi Kumar.
In this duration, schools, colleges, educational, training and coaching institutions etc will remain closed. Online learning and distance education shall continue. However, the curfew will be relaxed from 6 am to 10 am on Saturday and Sunday for people to buy food and other essentials.

All cinema halls, shopping malls, gymnasiums. yoga centres, spas, sports complexes, stadia, swimming pools, entertainment and amusement parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places will remain closed till May 4. However, swimming pools that are approved by the Swimming Federation of India will be opened so that sportspersons can use them for training purposes.
Food establishments like restaurants and eateries will be allowed to only provide parcel services.
All social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious gatherings, other gatherings and large congregations are also prohibited. Even religious centres have been ordered to shut down and only the priests will be allowed in places of worship.
The state government has further imposed a limit of 50 attendees for weddings. Meanwhile, only 20 people are allowed to attend funerals.
Stadiums and playgrounds are allowed for organizing sports events and practising purposes but without spectators.
Essential services like shops, including ration shops (PDS), dealing with food, groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths. meat and fish, animal fodder can continue to operate.
Wholesale vegetable markets, fruit markets and flower markets shall be permitted to operate from open spaces while strictly adhering to coronavirus guidelines.
Lodging hotels will be open for guests as well. Standalone liquor shops and outlets, bars and restaurants are permitted for takeaway only.
All food processing and related industries are permitted to operate. Banks, insurance offices and ATMs are allowed to operate. Print and electronic media are also permitted to function.
