Bengaluru, Apr 18: "The government has to lay stress on providing free treatment to Covid patients. The Prime Minister is not interested in the health of the people. He goes to people seeking votes, and gives importance to election. Who has benefitted from Rs 20 lac crore schemes announced by the central government," questioned Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, D K Shivakumar.
"The chief minister (CM) had convened an all party meeting today but it has been postponed because of corona. I pray for his early recovery. The state, economy, finance etc will be relevant if people are alive. So we have to work to save the people even at the cost of putting off other projects. The government has been playing with lives of people since March last year. We are worried about the lives of people as coronavirus is oui of control," he said.
Speaking at a press meet, he said that the health minister reportedly said that the situation is going out of hands. He said that the government had not taken precautionary measures even though Private Hospitals Nursing and Home Care Association wrote to thie government about oxygen and bed situation. He said that the health minister undertook personal check of beds for the first time now, even though all the ministers are expected to do it regularly.
He accused the government of not doing enough to give confidence to parents of the children who are worried. He said that promoting students is not important. "Being a parent and a person who runs educational institution, the future of the children is all the more important for me," he said.
He asked the government to provide free health services to poor and middle class people. He questioned the situation being so hopeless in spite of having the highest number of hospitals and best doctors in Karnataka. He questioned what the officers are doing, when there is shortage of beds and remdisivir medicine. He said he is against lockdown and criticized the government for trying to do something at the last minute without being ready in advance. He asked the government to set aside Rs 300 crore for corona treatment by stoppinkg development.
