Udupi: 'Parichaya Rangotsava 2025' to be held from Feb 10 to 16

Udupi, Feb 7: The Parichaya Pratisthana (R), Pambur, is organizing a seven-day theatre festival, 'Parichaya Rangotsava 2025', at Ranga Parichaya, Pambur, from February 10 to February 16. The festival will feature seven plays in Kannada, Tulu, and Konkani, with daily performances starting at 6:30 pm.

On February 10 (Monday), the Kannada play 'My Family' by Rangayana, Mysuru, will be performed, with story and adaptation by Satish Tipaturu and design and direction by Ganesh Mandarthi and Shravan Heggodu.

On February 11 (Tuesday), the Tulu play 'Eedi' by Sumanasa, Kodavoor, Udupi (R), will be staged, originally written in Hindi by Sameer Penker, translated into Tulu by Latesh Poojary, and conceptualized and directed by Viddu Uchil.

On February 12 (Wednesday), the Konkani play 'Payn…Parvatak' will be presented by Ranga Adhyayana Kendra, St Aloysius Deemed University, Mangaluru, and Astitva (R), Mangaluru, written by Dr Fr Alvin Serrao and designed and directed by Sweedal D'Souza.

On February 13 (Thursday), the Kannada play 'Anamikana Saavu' by Spinning Tree Theatre (R), Vijayapura, will be performed, based on the original work of Athol Fugard, with design and direction by Shakeel Ahmad.

On February 14 (Friday), the Kannada play 'Jotegiruvanu Chandira' by Sankalpa, Mysuru, will be staged, originally written by Joseph Stein, adapted by Jayant Karani, and based on Stein’s Fiddler on the Roof, with design and direction by Hulugappa Kattimani.

On February 15 (Saturday), the Kannada play 'Bettalata' by Mandara (R), Baikady, will be performed, originally written by Dario Fo, adapted into Kannada by Prakash Garuda, and designed and directed by Rohith Baikadi.

On February 16 (Sunday), the Konkani play 'Sattvo Upades' by Kalakul, Mangaluru, will be staged, written and directed by Arun Raj Rodrigues.

This festival will be inaugurated on February 10 by Satish Tiptur, director of Rangayana, Mysuru, while the valedictory address on February 16 will be delivered by B R Venkataramana Aithal, director of Yaksharangayana, Karkala.

The Kannada plays are supported by the Kannada and culture department of Udupi district, with Poornima, assistant director, participating as a guest. Each play will have a duration of 90 to 120 minutes and will strictly adhere to the scheduled time. The event is open to all theatre enthusiasts, according to a statement by Parichaya Pratisthana (R), Pambur.
