Bengaluru, Apr 16: With chief minister B S Yediyurappa getting himself hospitalised after being tested Covid positive, Karnataka’s health and family welfare as well as medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar has decided to continue his work in the Covid management despite attending the high-level meeting held at Yediyurappa’s official residence, Cauvery, in the morning.

In a tweet, Dr Sudhakar has posed himself the question as to whether he should also self-isolate himself and get quarantined after the confirmation of the chief minister being tested Covid positive in view of the fact that he also attended the meeting in which state chief secretary P Ravikumar and experts from the Technical Advisory Committee for Covid management also participated.

However, the health minister pointed out that the meeting was held in the lawns of the chief minister’s official residence and all the precautions and norms of maintaining physical distancing and wearing of masks were duly followed by all the participants including the chief minister himself.

In view of these facts, Dr Sudhakar has stated that he will continue with his official work by following all the norms of social distancing, wearing masks etc. and continue to interact with people by adhering to the Covid guidelines. "I will get myself tested for Covid after four days,’’ the health minister said.

The health minister clarified that his continuation of discharging the official duties as the state’s minister for health and family welfare as well as medical education has become inevitable and necessary at a time when the chief minister is hospitalised and the state is facing the second wave of Covid pandemic.

Meanwhile, deputy chief minister and higher education minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, home minister, as well as minister for law and parliamentary affairs Basavaraj Bommai and mining and geology minister Murugesh R Nirani, have in separate tweets expressed their shock that the chief minister has been tested positive for the second time and prayed that he will recover soon.

So what??? Is he doing any favor?? Don't forget He is public servant and eating away ours (tax payers ) money. So no sympathy towards these politicians, for them humanity, religion , community etc. only for their personnel benefits and certainly not for the society and towards any one of us..

It’s better for the people, state and the country if these incompetent, useless BJP ministers isolate, quarantine from public office. As it is they will be unproductive and unworthy to continue thier ministerial duties which will definitely develop the state silently which has been proved and time tested and works inversely whenever BJP ministers intervene. We don’t mind paying thier salaries for sitting at home and doing nothing.

state planning for another lock down followed by night curfew meaning the vaccination program is a big joke. either the vaccine is not working OR covid surge is just a news putting fear in minds of people. tell you what.. if covid was really powerful in India the whole population would have been perished just like it happened in Europe & US. in US 90% are alcoholics, drug addicts, smokers & depend entirely on hospital medicine even for silly illness so the immunity power of them is zero plus everything is hygienic there & their food system is bread & butter. when virus like corona attacks their bodies can't fight the virus. in India our bodies are trained to fight foreign virus right from start because everywhere its unhygienic we get fever cough we don't go for hospitals we depend on Ayurveda and our food lifestyle is completely change , not many of us are alcoholics drug addicts or smokers hence our immunity is strong when covid attacks our antibodies fight the virus because defense mechanism are trained from start.

I would partly agree with you.We have better immunity than people in US or Europe. We also have cross immunity, because of exposure to other respiratory viruses. Lockdown will not help, it will only destroy our economy, but vaccines will help in reducing the morbidity and mortality which even otherwise is lower than western countries per 1000 population.Vaccines are cheaper than most of the medicines (of doubtful value like Remdesivir and Favipiravir) also much cheaper and less riskier than hospitalization and ventilators. Even after vaccination one can still get infection but the chances for hospitalization, and mortality will be reduced. There are risks in vaccination like blood clots and Guillan Barre syndrome, but there are risks when we cross a road too....
