Bengaluru, Apr 16: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday April 16, hours after chairing an emergency meeting on the coronavirus situation in the state. He was admitted to Manipal Hospital here.
It is said that chief minister was suffering from fever for the past two days. He had undergone the Covid-19 test two days ago and tested negative.
The CM in a clarified the same in a tweet saying, "Upon having mild fever, today I got tested for Covid-19 and my report has come out positive. Although I am doing fine, I am being hospitalised based on the advise of doctors. I request all those who have come in my contact recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine."
It may be recalled, Yediyurappa was admitted to the hospital in August last year after after he tested positive for coronavirus. He had recovered and was then discharged.
Meanwhile, Karnataka on Thursday, reported its sharpest single-day spike of 14,738 fresh coronavirus cases and 66 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 11.09 lakh and the toll to 13,112. Bengaluru Urban reported 10,497 cases out of the 14,738 fresh cases reported on Thursday.
The state had previously reported its biggest single-day spike of 11,265 cases on Wednesday.
