Beltangady, Apr 15: A Muslim youth from the taluk has turned out to be an ardent devotee of Goddess Kalikamba. He takes part in every programme of the temple with earnestness and devotion. Now, he has authored a song praising the goddess, and also sung it melodiously.
Ramlan, a resident of Savanalu village in the taluk, has become an excellent example for communal harmony. He is an electrician by profession.
Sri Durga Kalikamba temple is located on the historically renowned Kalika Betta hillock of Savanalu village. The temple here has a history of over 1,200 years. The temple, located at the foot of the Western Ghats, is ensconced in naturally beautiful surroundings. Goddess Durga Devi Kalikambe is the main deity of the temple.
Ramlan lives next to the temple. He has written a devotional song titled 'Mahimeda Kshetra Kalibetta'. He has sung this six-minute long song, which starts with the line, 'Kali Bettodu Malla Mahime Tooye’. The song, which has come off beautifully because of Ramlan's beautiful rendering, has been uploaded in the YouTube page of S K Creation. Rajprakash Shetty Maddadka, Chidananda Hegde, Mohan Molaje and Kishan Konaje have extended cooperation while editing and other things have been done by Nitin Kotian Poyyegudde and Abhi Savanalu.
Ramlan is being lavishly praised for the literature and rendering of this song. Ramlan said he was always interseted in music but there was no encouragement. He said he created the devotional song for the temple as he is a regular participant in the annual festivities of the temple.
